Golak Bugni Bank Te Batua Review :
Punjabi movies and comedy are like hand in glove and we can hardly imagine them separately. Taking on this genre Director Ksshitij Chaudhary has come up with a new comedy saga 'Golak Bugni Bank Te Batua'. The film revolves around Neeta (Harish Verma) & Mishri (Simi Chahal), whose families hold grudges against each other despite they are staying in the same vicinity. Not only their families but the kids also hate each other and always try their best to pull each other down. But there are some twists which bring them closer but do they stay together and how they come closer is interesting to watch. The center point of the whole film is demonetization and how lives of many changed due to this and how they cope up with the after effects of demonetization is also depicted in a well-mannered way.
The film starts on a promising note with a backdrop of Punjab of 1978 when the first time demonetization took place in India and currency notes were scrapped. Then director shifts us to the current scenario where Neeta and Mishri and their families trying hard to humiliate each other.
Though these two plots are somehow connected with each other still audience didn't feel the connection and weak screenplay played the spoilsport. An apt screenplay could have done wonders but the director didn't bother with that and only tried his tested formula of humour for this.
All the actors did brilliant work. Harish Verma and Simi Chahal's chemistry is great. Jaswinder Bhalla and B.N. Sharma were in their full elements. The supporting cast also fared well with their parts.
The best part of the film is Amrinder Gill and Aditi Sharma in a special appearance as Bhola and Chinddi. Though it was a special appearance still they made their presence felt and the audience loved their characters.
There is no denying the fact that funny one-liners and dialogues are definitely backbones of this film. And if we take out these one-liners out of this, there would be nothing left in this film.
The weak editing and cinematography erupted the overall experience of the audience in between.
A special message in the end against dowry system which is really the need of the hour is really great and writer deserves an applause for this. Overall, it's a film which can be watched for once only if you are a fan of the comic genre.
